GERMENS at a glance

Brand

GERMENS artfashion is an art and fashion brand from Chemnitz, Germany.

Founded

The GERMENS brand was founded in August 2010 by René König together with artist Gregor-T. Kozik.

Founder and owner

René König is the founder and owner. He has worked independently in design, advertising and creative business since 19 November 1992.

Concept

GERMENS turns artworks and original design concepts into wearable art, especially shirts, blouses and T-shirts.

Design range

The overall portfolio contains more than 500 designs.

Possible variants

The combination of designs, product types and sizes creates more than 20,000 possible product variants.

Typical finished stock

Depending on the season, approximately 1,000 to 2,000 finished items are held in stock. Therefore not every design and size combination is immediately available.

Production model

In-stock items are shipped quickly. Non-stock standard products are produced after ordering in individual pieces or small batches.

Core materials

Shirts and blouses are made from 100% cotton. Men's and women's T-shirts and women's long-sleeve shirts are normally 96% cotton and 4% elastane.

Shipping

Shipping within Germany is normally free. GERMENS also ships throughout Europe, to the United States and worldwide where the destination is supported.

Returns

Eligible, unaltered goods have a 30-day return period under the applicable shop conditions. Individually altered goods cannot be returned or exchanged as a normal change-of-mind return.

Is GERMENS a newly created or unknown online shop?

No. The brand has existed since 2010, the owner has been self-employed since 1992, and GERMENS also offers personal advice and retail services in Chemnitz.

Why is every design and size not in stock?

More than 500 designs across many product types and sizes create over 20,000 possible variants. Holding every combination as finished stock would create unnecessary overproduction.

Can an item be orderable even when it is not ready in the warehouse?

Yes. Orderable can mean either immediately available or made after ordering. The product page and order confirmation show the applicable status.

Are all designs available as a shirt, blouse and T-shirt?

No. Each product page shows which product types are currently available for that design.

Can a shirt motif be ordered as a T-shirt even if it is not shown?

Only if GERMENS confirms that the motif is available for that product type. An unlisted product conversion cannot be guaranteed.

Are there subtle designs?

Yes. In addition to very colourful designs, the range includes dark, monochrome, black-and-white and quieter designs.

Are there very bold designs?

Yes. GERMENS is particularly known for strong colours, detailed patterns and unusual artistic compositions.

Can products be filtered by colour?

Yes. The shop offers colour-related categories and filters, for example blue, green, red, black, white, turquoise or multicolour.

What are artist shirts?

Artist shirts are based on an artwork or an original artistic design that is technically adapted to the fabric and the individual garment panels.

What are designer shirts?

Designer shirts are independent graphic or thematic GERMENS designs with the same basic construction and quality features as the artist collections.

Are there limited editions?

Yes. Some collections and campaigns are limited by time or quantity. The exact limit is stated on the relevant product or campaign page.

What is Seven at One Click?

It is a special GERMENS campaign with strictly limited quantities. The current products, dates and rules must be checked on the campaign page.

Can a sold-out limited product be reproduced?

Usually not if the edition is explicitly closed. GERMENS may check whether another size or variant is still available.

Where can customers see items that are ready to ship?

The online shop contains a Ready to Ship or immediately available category showing current finished stock.

Brand concept, art, sustainability and manufacturing

What does artfashion mean?

Artfashion means that an artwork is not only shown on a wall or on paper. It becomes part of a wearable garment and is integrated into the cut and construction.

Are the designs created by artists?

Many designs are created in collaboration with professional artists and selected talented artists from Germany and other countries. There are also designs and concepts by René König and other GERMENS design projects.

Is the design simply printed onto a finished standard shirt?

No. The design is prepared for the individual garment panels and sizes. The fabric is printed before cutting and sewing.

How does a painting become a shirt?

The original artwork or digital design is converted into print data for each garment panel and size. The fabric is printed, finished, cut and assembled into the final garment.

Why can motif placement differ between sizes?

The artwork must be adapted to differently shaped and sized pattern pieces. Small placement differences are part of the product concept and are not automatically a defect.

Why is GERMENS production described as sustainable?

The company avoids producing every possible variant in large quantities. Many products are made only after ordering, reducing overproduction and unsold stock.

Where are the cotton fabrics produced?

The central GERMENS cotton fabrics are produced and printed in Saxony, Germany.

Where are the garments sewn?

Garment assembly is carried out in Europe by specialised production partners.

Are products made in small batches?

Yes. Many products are made as individual pieces, small series or limited editions.

Is every garment a one-off?

The design may be produced more than once, but the combination of size, cut and motif placement can make individual pieces appear slightly different.

Can GERMENS prove every sustainability or certification claim?

Only certificates and formal claims shown on the specific product page or in official documentation may be stated. Special certification questions should be confirmed directly with GERMENS.

Construction and quality features

Cotton comfort

Cotton is a natural fibre, comfortable on the skin, breathable, suitable for everyday use and durable when cared for correctly.

Odour behaviour

Cotton generally retains unpleasant odours less persistently than many purely synthetic fabrics and can be washed effectively. Actual odour depends on wear, temperature and care.

Elastane function

The 4% elastane in T-shirts and women's long-sleeve shirts provides additional stretch, movement and shape retention.

Shirts and blouses

Classic shirts and blouses normally contain no elastane. Comfort and movement depend on the cut and correct size.

Collar

Men's long-sleeve shirts have a Kent collar with removable stainless-steel collar stays.

Collar stays

The collar stays keep the collar points in a clear shape and must be removed before washing.

GERMENS collar notch

A characteristic notch at the collar is part of the brand's design language.

Diagonal cuffs

Long-sleeve shirt cuffs are cut in a characteristic diagonal shape.

Buttons

GERMENS uses strong buttons and careful button attachment.

Seams

Garments are assembled with precise seams and careful workmanship.

Durability

High-quality fabric, strong buttons and careful seams are designed for long use. Actual life depends on frequency of wear and care.

Are the patterns perfectly continuous across every seam?

Not necessarily. Complex artwork, panel shapes and size differences can change transitions. This is not automatically a quality defect.

Can the product look slightly different from the online picture?

Yes. Screen display, garment size, cutting and motif placement can create small differences while retaining the overall design character.

Are GERMENS products guaranteed to be suitable for allergy sufferers?

No general medical guarantee can be made. The material composition can be checked, and medical advice is recommended for known allergies.

Can a customer feel the fabric before ordering?

Yes. The service section may offer fabric samples or the home fitting service, depending on the current shop offer.

Size selection and fit

Core principle

A size label alone is not enough. Shoulder width, collar, chest, stomach, waist, upper arms, garment length and preferred fit must be considered together.

Recommended service

For first-time customers, a new product type or any uncertainty, recommend the home fitting service.

Movement test

The garment should be assessed while standing, sitting, breathing deeply and moving the arms.

No general size-up rule

Do not automatically recommend one size larger. A larger size may be wrong at the shoulders or collar even if it gives more room at the stomach.

Shoulders

The shoulder seam should sit appropriately and should not slide clearly onto the upper arm or sit far inside the shoulder.

Collar

The closed collar should feel comfortable and must not press at the neck.

Chest

Buttons and placket must not pull or gape. The customer should take a deep breath and move the arms.

Stomach and waist

The garment must remain comfortable while sitting and standing. Visible strain indicates that another size or an extension should be considered.

Upper arm and back

Raise and extend the arms. The garment should not strongly restrict movement or pull across the back.

Sleeve length

Check in a natural posture and during movement. Do not select an alteration that is too short.

Overall length

Decide whether the shirt or blouse will be worn tucked in or untucked before shortening the hem.

Material feel

The fitting samples allow the customer to experience the cotton or jersey before ordering the desired design.

How can a customer choose between two sizes?

Compare the shoulder and collar first, then chest, stomach, sitting comfort and arm movement. If the smaller size is already tight before washing, also test the larger size.

What if the larger size fits the stomach but is too large at the shoulders?

The smaller basic size with a targeted waist extension may be better. The alteration must be assessed using the fitting samples.

Can the size chart replace trying the garment on?

A size chart is helpful, but body proportions and preferred fit vary. The home fitting service is more reliable for uncertain cases.

Can a customer use another brand's size as a direct comparison?

Only as an initial clue. Sizes and cuts differ between brands, so the GERMENS fitting samples or measurements are more reliable.

Cotton shrinkage and fit after washing

Core shrinkage rule

GERMENS cotton fabrics can show normal residual shrinkage of approximately 2% to 3% when cared for correctly. A fitting sample must therefore not fit only just tightly enough before washing. It should remain comfortable and allow a small fit reserve.

Meaning of shrinkage

Shrinkage is a reduction in length and/or width after washing and drying. Textile technology also refers to this as negative dimensional change or reduced dimensional stability.

Why cotton changes

Cotton fibres absorb water and swell. During washing and drying, yarns and fabric can relax from tensions introduced during weaving, printing, finishing, drying and garment production.

Not caused only by heat

Moisture, mechanical movement, drying method, fabric construction and residual production tension all influence dimensional change. Excess heat can make the effect stronger.

Timing

The largest dimensional change often occurs during the first wash and dry cycle. Smaller changes can follow in the next cycles. For customer communication, say the first one to three washes.

Not identical everywhere

Length and width do not necessarily shrink by exactly the same percentage, and every point of a garment does not change equally.

GERMENS guideline

Approximately 2% to 3% is a normal guideline for the cotton fabrics. It is not an exact guarantee for every measurement or every product.

T-shirts

Knitted T-shirt fabric with elastane behaves differently from woven shirt and blouse fabric. The care label and product-specific advice take priority.

Example - back length 75 cm

2% equals 1.5 cm and 3% equals 2.25 cm.

Example - sleeve length 65 cm

2% equals 1.3 cm and 3% equals 1.95 cm.

Example - flat width 60 cm

2% equals 1.2 cm and 3% equals 1.8 cm. These are mathematical examples, not guaranteed final dimensions.

Why does cotton shrink?

During washing, cotton fibres swell. During drying, yarns and fabric relax from residual production tension and may settle into a slightly more compact structure.

Does cotton always shrink exactly 3%?

No. The actual value depends on fabric construction, finishing, washing and drying. GERMENS uses approximately 2% to 3% as a normal guideline.

Does the garment shrink exactly three times?

No. The main change usually appears in the first cycle, and smaller changes may follow. First one to three washes describes the practical period, not an exact number of mandatory shrink events.

Should the fitting sample be washed?

No. The samples are loan items and must be returned unwashed. Expected shrinkage is considered when selecting the size.

What if the fitting sample only just fits?

The next larger size should also be checked. A garment that is already tight when unwashed may become uncomfortable after normal shrinkage.

Must everyone buy one size larger?

No. A larger size may fit badly at the shoulder, collar or chest. All fit areas must be assessed together.

How much comfort reserve is required?

There is no universal centimetre value. The garment should close comfortably and remain free of strain while sitting, breathing and moving.

Can shrinkage replace a waist reduction?

No. Shrinkage is small and not precisely controllable. It must never be planned as a targeted alteration.

Should sleeves be shortened to the absolute minimum length?

No. Normal shrinkage in length must be considered so that the sleeve does not become too short after washing.

Is normal shrinkage a complaint reason?

Expected material-related shrinkage of approximately 2% to 3% with correct care is not automatically a defect or complaint reason.

When should the case be checked as a possible defect?

If the garment shrinks substantially more, becomes distorted, twists, develops displaced seams or changes unusually despite correct care, the case must be assessed individually.

What information is needed for a shrinkage complaint?

Order number, product, washing and drying method, temperature, photos, and if possible measurements before and after washing on the fully dry garment.

Can a shrinkage complaint be rejected immediately?

No. Normal textile shrinkage must be distinguished from an unusual dimensional change. Atypical cases are inspected individually by GERMENS.

Do statutory rights remain?

Yes. Information about normal textile shrinkage does not remove statutory rights when a genuine defect exists.

Can ironing make the garment permanently larger again?

Steam and ironing can smooth the fibres and help restore shape, but they do not reliably reverse permanent shrinkage or correct an unsuitable size.

Will a tight cotton shirt become permanently wider during wear?

Cotton may loosen slightly with body heat and movement, but this must not be relied upon when choosing the size.

Home fitting service

Core service principle

The home fitting service is a separate loan and advice product. The customer receives three sample garments for size, fit and material assessment. None of the three garments is kept. The EUR 50 deposit is refunded after proper return or credited against a subsequent purchase.

Who should use it

The service is recommended for first-time customers, existing customers trying a new product type, customers between sizes, customers planning alterations and anyone living too far from Chemnitz for a store visit.

Where to order

Order the relevant home fitting service as its own product in the Service category of the GERMENS online shop.

Three neighbouring sizes

The chosen middle size is sent together with one size smaller and one size larger. Example: selecting L results in M, L and XL.

Appearance of samples

The sample garments can have different colours or designs from the desired product. They are only for fit, material feel and alteration planning.

All samples returned

The service is not a purchase of three garments from which one is kept. All three samples must be returned.

Deposit

The customer pays EUR 50 as a refundable deposit. Prefer the terms refundable deposit or deposit, not a final service fee.

Shipping

Outbound and return shipping for this service are free under the described current procedure. A return label is included.

Return period

All three samples must be returned within 10 days. The included return label is valid for 10 days only.

Included documents

The parcel contains three samples, a form and a return label.

After fitting

The customer orders the desired design separately in the selected size and with any agreed alteration.

Ready-to-ship order

If the desired item is in stock, it is normally sent within a few working days.

Made-to-order item

If the desired item is not in stock, the general GERMENS production lead time applies.

Home fitting process

  1. Open the Service category and select the fitting service for the desired product group.
  2. Select the estimated middle size.
  3. Pay the EUR 50 refundable deposit.
  4. Receive three neighbouring sizes.
  5. Try all three at home and compare shoulder, collar, chest, stomach, waist, sleeve length, total length, movement and material feel.
  6. Determine any required sleeve, hem or waist alteration.
  7. Complete the included form, including size, alterations and preferred deposit handling.
  8. Return all three samples within 10 days using the included label.
  9. After receipt and inspection, the deposit is either refunded or credited against the desired product.
  10. Order the desired design separately in the determined size and with confirmed alterations.

If the customer chooses L, which sizes are sent?

M, L and XL are sent automatically.

Can the customer choose three non-adjacent sizes?

The standard service uses neighbouring sizes. Any exception must be confirmed by GERMENS before ordering.

Can one of the sample garments be kept?

No. All three are loan samples and must be returned.

Does the sample have the desired design?

Not necessarily. The samples can look completely different because the service is about fit and material, not the final motif.

Can the customer order the desired shirt and receive three sizes of that shirt?

No. The fitting service is a separate product. The desired garment is ordered afterwards.

Is the EUR 50 amount lost if nothing is ordered?

No. After complete and proper return, it is refunded if the customer does not place a product order.

How is the deposit refunded?

Normally through the original payment method, such as PayPal, credit card or Klarna, where technically possible. The form can also contain bank details for a bank transfer refund.

When is the deposit refunded?

After the complete return has arrived and been inspected. The exact credit date also depends on the payment provider or bank.

How is the deposit used if the customer orders a product?

The EUR 50 is credited against the product order, whether the item is ready to ship or made to order.

What if the label has expired or was lost?

Contact GERMENS with the fitting-service order number, name and email address so that a new label or return instruction can be provided. An expired label should not be used without confirmation.

What if none of the three sizes fits?

Provide GERMENS with the tested sizes and the exact fit problem. Another size range or an alteration solution can then be assessed.

Can the samples be washed?

No. They are loan garments and must be returned unwashed and unaltered.

Can the customer test a shirt and a T-shirt in one service?

Fitting services are product-specific. Separate services may be required for different product types.

Can the return period be extended?

Not automatically. The customer must contact GERMENS before the deadline. An exception is valid only after confirmation.

What if a sample is missing or damaged?

The case requires individual inspection. A deposit refund can be confirmed only after the facts and returned items have been checked.

Should the customer keep the return receipt?

Yes. Keep the shipment receipt and tracking information until the deposit has been refunded or credited.

Alteration service

ALTERATION RULE

Alteration feasibility depends on the product, cut, available seam allowance, design placement and requested amount. Individually altered finished goods cannot be returned or exchanged as a normal return.

Shorten shirt sleeves The cuffs are professionally removed, the sleeves are shortened and the original cuffs are sewn back on.

Shorten blouse sleeves Possible for suitable blouses. The method depends on the cuff, sleeve finish and design.

Widen blouse sleeves May be possible for suitable blouses, depending on fabric availability, seam construction and required amount.

Reduce the waist Suitable shirts and blouses can be made more fitted through the side seams or darts.

Extend the waist For suitable products, matching fabric panels or wedges can be inserted in the side seams.

Typical waist extension The home fitting service describes an approximate extension of 2 to 5 cm. Exact feasibility depends on the garment.

Shorten the hem Possible for suitable shirts, blouses and T-shirts. The new shape and length must be technically appropriate.

Add back darts Back darts remove fabric at the back and create a more fitted silhouette.

Alter suitable T-shirts Certain hem or waist alterations may be possible, but must be checked for the specific jersey product.

Shorten a belt A shortening service is available for suitable GERMENS belts.

Can every garment be altered?

No. The cut, seam allowance, fabric, motif placement and construction can limit alterations.

Can a garment be enlarged by several full sizes?

Usually not. Extensions normally affect a limited area and limited measurement.

Can a garment be reduced by several sizes?

Large reductions can distort the collar, armhole, proportions and motif placement. GERMENS must assess whether a good result is technically possible.

Can an alteration be ordered together with a new product?

Yes. Available alteration services can be added to the order or agreed directly with GERMENS.

Can an existing GERMENS product be altered later?

Suitable existing GERMENS garments can be assessed. The model, size, condition and required change are needed.

Does GERMENS alter clothing from other brands?

The service is intended for GERMENS products. Alterations to garments from other brands are not part of the standard service.

How much does an alteration cost?

Current standard prices are shown in the Service category. Non-standard work requires an individual assessment.

How much longer does an altered order take?

Alterations are carried out after the product is finished. This normally adds about 10 to 14 days, but high workload can cause variation.

Can an alteration be reversed?

Many alterations are permanent or only partly reversible. Measurements and requested changes must be confirmed carefully before work starts.

Can altered goods be returned?

No normal return or exchange is possible after an individual customer alteration. A genuine defect is still assessed separately, and statutory rights remain unaffected.

What information is required for an alteration?

Product name or order number, current size, alteration area and preferably the target measurement in centimetres.

How should sleeve length be measured?

A well-fitting comparison garment is usually the safest reference. If uncertain, request the GERMENS measurement instructions or arrange an in-store appointment.

What happens to the artwork when a garment is shortened?

Parts of the motif may be removed or the visual balance may change. GERMENS considers placement but cannot guarantee that every motif element remains complete.

Stock, availability and made-to-order production

Ready to ship

If an item is finished, paid and released, it is normally dispatched within a few working days.

Made to order

If the chosen design and size are not in finished stock, the standard product is produced after ordering.

Monthly production runs

Open made-to-order orders are collected and normally set up as a production run once per month.

Preparation before handover

GERMENS checks and groups orders, assigns designs, products and sizes, and creates or verifies the required textile print data.

Production partners

Fabric printing and garment assembly are performed by two specialised partner companies.

Lead time after handover

From the documented production handover date, production normally takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks.

Not from order date

The 8 to 10 week guideline does not automatically begin on the online order date. Additional time can pass before the next monthly handover.

Variation

Production can be shorter or longer depending on workload, material availability, production flow and quality control.

No acceleration promise

GERMENS and René König cannot control the workload or fixed sequence of the two specialist production companies and cannot promise that an individual order will be moved forward.

Altered products

After production, an individual alteration normally adds another 10 to 14 days.

Remanufacture

If an item must be produced again because it did not pass quality control or another production issue occurred, several additional weeks may be required.

Order status

A delayed order remains active and will be completed or resolved individually. A delay does not mean that the order has been forgotten.

When does the production time start?

It starts from the monthly production handover to the specialist companies, not automatically from the date of the online order.

Why are orders grouped monthly?

The range contains very many design, product and size combinations. Grouping enables efficient production of individual pieces and very small batches.

Why does made-to-order production take so long?

The product passes through design-specific print data preparation, textile printing, finishing, cutting, sewing, quality control and possibly alteration.

Can a phone call speed up production?

No. A call can clarify the status, but it cannot change the partner companies' workload or safely accelerate the technical process.

Can René König personally speed up the order?

No. Even as owner, he cannot change the production partners' capacity or move one order ahead of the established process.

Can a fixed delivery date be guaranteed for a wedding, trip or stage event?

No fixed date can be guaranteed for made-to-order items. If the product is needed for an important date, the requested deadline must be communicated to GERMENS before ordering.

What if the item has to be made again?

The product must repeat important production steps, which can add several weeks. A new exact completion date cannot be guaranteed.

Does production always take exactly eight weeks?

No. Eight to ten weeks is an approximate guideline after handover and can be shorter or longer.

Order letter, QR code and personal status page

Colourful order letter

Customers with a made-to-order item normally receive a colourful printed GERMENS order confirmation by post.

Not advertising

The colourful letter is not advertising and should not be discarded.

QR code

The letter contains a QR code or link to a personal information and status page.

Status information

The page indicates the approximate production phase, remaining time estimate and expected delivery period.

Forecast only

The dates on the page are estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates.

Primary source for status calls

For made-to-order lead-time questions, ask the customer to check the personal status page first.

Why did the customer receive a colourful letter?

It is the order confirmation for a made-to-order product and contains important order and status information.

What if the customer threw the letter away?

Contact GERMENS with the name, order number and email address so that access to the status information or replacement instructions can be provided.

What if the QR code does not work?

Contact GERMENS with the order details and a description of the error. The correct status link can then be checked or resent.

Is the date on the status page binding?

No. It is an updated estimate based on the production stage, not a guaranteed delivery day.

Why is the status not updated every day?

Production stages do not necessarily change daily, and information may be updated only when a relevant milestone is recorded.

Ordering, customer account, vouchers and special projects

How does a customer order?

Select product, design, size and available options in the online shop, add to the basket, enter delivery and payment data and complete the order.

Can a customer order without an account?

What if the password was forgotten?

Use the Forgot password function on the login page and follow the email instructions.

What if no order confirmation email arrived?

Check the spam folder and the entered email address. If the confirmation is still missing, contact GERMENS with the name, order date and order number if available.

Can a binding order be placed by phone?

Telephone advice is possible. A binding order and payment must be completed in the online shop or confirmed by an authorised employee.

Can an order be placed by email?

A special order can be discussed with GERMENS. The online shop is the preferred secure method for entering address and payment data.

Can an order be cancelled?

Cancellation must be checked immediately. Once an item has shipped, entered production or been individually altered, cancellation can be restricted or impossible.

Can an item be added after ordering?

It depends on the processing status. Contact GERMENS promptly with the order number and requested item.

Can two orders be combined?

Only if dispatch preparation has not started and the payment and delivery data are compatible. GERMENS must confirm that the orders can be combined.

Can a voucher be used?

Enter the voucher code in the designated basket or checkout field. The specific validity and conditions apply.

Why does a voucher code not work?

Check the spelling, validity period, minimum order value, product exclusions and whether the code was already used. If the problem remains, contact GERMENS with the code and basket details.

Can multiple vouchers be combined?

Only if the checkout accepts the combination or the terms explicitly allow it.

Can an expired promotion still be used?

Normally no. Any exception must be approved individually by GERMENS.

Can an item be reserved?

Only after individual confirmation. A reservation request should include the product, size, name and contact details.

Can an online order be collected in the store?

Possibly, but the customer must wait for explicit confirmation that the item is ready and where it can be collected.

Can an invoice be issued to a company?

Yes, if correct company details are provided in time. Later invoice changes require verification.

Are quantity discounts available?

Larger quantities for companies, teams, groups or events can be assessed for an individual quotation.

Can GERMENS develop a company or club design?

Special projects can be discussed. The purpose, quantity, target date, contact person and budget range are required for an assessment. Implementation is not automatically guaranteed.

Can a customer buy an original artwork shown on a garment?

The sale of original artworks is not a standard shop service. A specific request may be submitted with the artist, motif and contact details.

Can a specific artist create a unique custom shirt?

This is not a standard service. The occasion, quantity, budget and requested deadline are required for an individual assessment.

Contact GERMENS with the order number, dates, amounts and both payment references. A refund can be confirmed only after verification.

Can the payment method be changed after ordering?

Not always. If payment is incomplete, GERMENS may issue another payment instruction or require a new order.

Can credit-card details be given by phone?

No. Complete credit-card data must never be communicated by phone or in an unsecured message.

When will the invoice be provided?

The invoice is provided according to the order and dispatch process. If it is missing, contact GERMENS with the order number and email address.

Why can the final amount differ from the product price?

Possible reasons include shipping, alterations, additional services, taxes, customs, cash-on-delivery fees or an unapplied voucher. The checkout total before purchase is binding.

Shipping in Germany, Europe and worldwide

Germany

Standard shipping within Germany is normally free.

Carriers

GERMENS uses DHL or UPS depending on destination, product and service.

Ready stock

Finished and released goods normally ship within a few working days.

Europe

Shipping to European countries is available. The current fee is shown in checkout.

United States

Shipping to the United States is possible where the destination is supported. The fee and carrier are shown in checkout.

Worldwide

Worldwide shipping is offered where legally and logistically possible and where the destination is available in checkout.

International returns

The customer normally pays return shipping from outside Germany and should use a tracked method.

Customs

Outside the European Union, import duties, taxes or carrier fees can arise and are usually paid by the recipient.

Can the parcel be tracked?

Yes. Tracking information is normally provided after dispatch.

What if no tracking number arrived?

Check the spam folder and confirm that dispatch has actually occurred. If the tracking link is still missing, contact GERMENS with the order number and email address.

What if tracking does not move?

A newly created label can take time to receive the first scan. If there is no movement for several working days, GERMENS can start an investigation with the carrier.

What if the parcel is lost?

Contact GERMENS immediately with the order number, tracking number, delivery address and last scan. Replacement or refund can be confirmed only after the carrier investigation.

Tracking says delivered but the parcel is missing. What should the customer do?

Check the safe place, neighbours, building management and delivery notice. If the parcel is still missing, contact GERMENS with the order and tracking details.

Can shipping be accelerated?

GERMENS may check faster shipping for ready stock. Faster production cannot be guaranteed for a made-to-order product.

Can the customer select a delivery day?

The carrier may offer delivery options after dispatch. GERMENS cannot guarantee every requested day.

Can a DHL Packstation be used?

Only if the selected carrier and correct addressing support it. A DHL Packstation cannot be used for a UPS shipment.

Can an order be split into several parcels?

Yes, if products have different availability or production stages. The specific split is decided for the order.

What if the delivery address is wrong?

The correction must be reported immediately. After handover to the carrier, changes may be limited and can create additional costs.

What if a parcel is returned to GERMENS?

GERMENS checks the reason, address and possible new shipment. If non-delivery resulted from incorrect details or failure to collect the parcel, additional shipping costs may apply.

How long does international transport take?

It depends on destination, carrier, customs and local delivery. A fixed transit time cannot be guaranteed.

Returns, exchanges, refunds and complaints

RETURN RULE

Eligible, unaltered goods generally have a 30-day return period under the current shop conditions. Individually altered goods are excluded from normal return and exchange. Genuine defects are assessed separately and statutory rights remain unaffected.

Condition of returned goods

For a normal return, the item should be unworn, unwashed, unaltered and returned with labels and accessories where applicable.

Germany return route

GERMENS provides the applicable return route or label for eligible German returns under the current conditions.

Foreign return cost

The customer normally pays return shipping from outside Germany and should keep the shipping receipt.

Refund timing

The return must first arrive and be checked. The exact credit date also depends on the payment provider.

Refund method

Refunds are normally made through the original payment method where technically possible.

Exchange

A size or product exchange depends on stock and may be processed as a return followed by a new order. GERMENS confirms the exact process.

Can an altered garment be returned because the customer changed their mind?

No. An individually altered garment is excluded from normal return or exchange. A possible defect is still checked separately.

Can a made-to-order standard-size garment be returned?

Use the current shop terms and the specific order. Made-to-order does not automatically mean individually customised, but alterations or special personalisation can change return eligibility.

What if the wrong item was delivered?

Contact GERMENS with the order number, product received, product expected and photos of the labels and parcel.

What if the size is wrong?

If the item is unaltered and in returnable condition, the customer can use the applicable return or exchange process. The home fitting service is recommended before selecting a new size when uncertain.

What if a button is missing or loose?

Contact GERMENS with the order number and a photo. A replacement button, repair or another solution can then be assessed.

What if a seam is open?

Do not place further stress on the garment. Send photos of the seam and the complete product to GERMENS for repair or replacement assessment.

What if the colour looks different from the screen?

Small screen-related colour differences can occur. An unaltered, unworn item may be returned within the applicable period. A suspected printing error should be documented with photos.

What if the motif placement differs from the product photo?

Size and cutting can change the position of individual design elements. This is not automatically a defect. If the product appears incorrect, send photos to GERMENS.

What if the parcel arrived damaged?

Keep the packaging. Take photos of the outside, inside, shipping label and product and report the damage promptly.

Does the customer have to give a reason for return?

A short reason helps processing and quality improvement, but unnecessary personal details are not required.

Can a return be handed in at the store?

Possibly after prior agreement. The customer should bring the complete item and order number.

Can a return be requested after 30 days?

There is no automatic right under the voluntary 30-day policy after the deadline. GERMENS may assess an individual solution.

What if the item was washed before a defect was noticed?

Contact GERMENS with the washing temperature, detergent, drying method, defect description and photos. A possible material or workmanship problem will then be assessed.

What if the refund has not appeared?

Check whether the return arrived and whether the refund was initiated. If the payment is still missing, contact GERMENS with the order number, return date and tracking.

Can a return be replaced with an alteration?

Yes, if the basic size is suitable and the alteration is technically possible. Costs and the effect on return rights must be explained before work begins.

Can a refund, replacement or compensation be guaranteed immediately?

No. The result can be confirmed only after an individual assessment.

Washing, drying, ironing and storage

Care information priority

The sewn-in care label on the specific garment always has priority over general advice.

General washing temperature

Many shirts, blouses and T-shirts are washed at 30 to 40 degrees Celsius according to the care label. For gentle care and dimensional stability, 30 degrees is preferred where suitable.

Detergent

Use a colour detergent without bleaching agents or optical brighteners for coloured garments.

Bleach

Do not use chlorine bleach.

Collar stays

Remove the stainless-steel collar stays before washing.

Buttons

Open normal buttons before washing to reduce stress on buttonholes and seams.

Colour separation

Wash with similar colours. Strong colours can release some dye during the first washes.

Drying

Air drying on a suitable clean hanger is gentler and reduces additional shrinkage risk. A low-temperature gentle tumble-dry cycle is only used if the care label permits it.

After washing

Remove while damp, shake gently, smooth into shape and hang without forceful stretching.

Hanger

Avoid an untreated wooden hanger that may transfer moisture or colour. Use a clean plastic or coated hanger.

Ironing

Cotton garments can be ironed or steamed according to the care label. Use moderate treatment on printed surfaces, preferably from the reverse side or through a cloth.

Storage

Store clean and dry on an appropriate hanger and avoid prolonged direct sunlight.

Can full heavy-duty detergent be used?

It can contain bleach or optical brighteners that harm colours. Colour detergent is recommended for colourful GERMENS products.

Can a shirt go into the tumble dryer?

Only if the care label permits a gentle low-temperature cycle. Air drying is the safer option for colour, shape and shrinkage control.

Should a wet shirt be pulled to make it larger?

No forceful stretching. Gently smooth and shape it while damp.

Can a garment be dry-cleaned?

The care label decides. The cleaner should be told that it is a high-quality printed textile.

Why can a new product smell of print or packaging?

A light production or packaging smell can occur and normally disappears after airing or the first correct wash.

Where are the detailed care instructions?

On the sewn-in care label and on the GERMENS service page for washing and care.
