MIRALUNA reveals more details every time you look at it. Small figures appear between archways, a camel waits beside a palace, horses move through the scene, birds cross the sky and celestial symbols float above the imaginary city. The front, back and sleeves do not simply repeat one pattern. They continue the visual story around the entire shirt.

The story of MIRALUNA

There is an old tale about a city hidden behind seven gates in the desert, a place no traveller could ever see twice in exactly the same way. At sunrise its walls appeared golden. At night its domes turned deep blue. And on exceptionally clear nights, people claimed that a second moon appeared above the highest palace.

One evening, a stranger arrived at the city gates. He carried no gold and no precious jewels. His only possession was an old rolled-up carpet.

When he unfolded it in the palace courtyard, images appeared across its surface: staircases leading seemingly nowhere, gardens growing in the middle of the desert and palaces above which the sun and moon stood in the sky at the same time.

The ruler asked him how much the carpet was worth.

The traveller answered: “Its value is not determined by where it takes you, but by what you discover along the way.”

That night the carpet quietly lifted from the courtyard. It flew above domes, palm trees, courtyards and desert landscapes until the city, the sky and the land became one enormous picture.

By morning the traveller had disappeared. Only his story remained – and perhaps a pattern that is now called MIRALUNA.

An art shirt filled with architecture and imagination

The front of MIRALUNA is dominated by a large palace inspired by oriental architectural forms. Intense blue domes form the visual centre, surrounded by archways, ornamental façades and courtyards. A horse, camel, plants and small figures bring movement and life into the composition.

The journey continues across the back. New palaces, stairways, courtyards, domes and architectural levels appear. Above them float the moon, stars and a flying carpet. MIRALUNA does not depict one specific historical city. Instead, the artwork is a freely composed artistic collage of architecture, ornamentation and symbols inspired by the imaginary worlds of oriental tales.

The sleeves are fully integrated into the artwork as well. Minarets, buildings, figures and numerous smaller elements continue around the arms. The appearance of the shirt therefore changes depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

21 individual pieces become one wearable artwork

The distinctive character of a GERMENS shirt such as MIRALUNA comes not only from the illustration itself. The artwork is designed for the individual pattern pieces of the garment. A GERMENS long sleeve shirt is constructed from 21 individual fabric pieces.

This makes it possible to position major elements deliberately across the front, back and sleeves. The result is fundamentally different from a conventional fabric featuring a small repeating print. With MIRALUNA, the entire shirt becomes the canvas.

From close up, new figures, ornaments and tiny scenes continue to appear. Viewed from a greater distance, these individual elements merge into one coherent and colourful composition.

100% cotton – natural comfort for everyday wear

MIRALUNA is made from 100% cotton. Cotton is a natural fibre with a pleasant feel against the skin, making it particularly suitable for a shirt that may be worn for many hours.

The cotton fabric is comfortable, suitable for everyday use and durable when cared for correctly. Compared with many synthetic materials, cotton also tends to remain more neutral in terms of odour. This makes MIRALUNA not only an exceptional art shirt for special occasions, but also a garment that can comfortably become part of everyday life.

The fabric used for GERMENS shirts is printed in Saxony, Germany. The individual parts are then cut and assembled into the finished garment. Production is based on orders and small quantities rather than huge stocks of identical shirts.

MIRALUNA also includes the characteristic details of a GERMENS shirt. The Kent collar features the distinctive GERMENS collar notch. Removable stainless-steel collar stays support the collar points and help maintain a defined shape.

The characteristic angled cuffs provide another design detail. Strong buttons, precisely sewn seams and a high stitch density support the durability of the garment.
