The story of PLUSMINUS begins with contrast. Plus and minus, stillness and movement, white space and dark line, spontaneous color and deliberate form meet on one surface. The result is not conflict, but visual tension. When someone asks about PLUSMINUS, the answer can be concise: this shirt is about balance, decisions and the energy created when opposites do not cancel each other out. It feels like a graphic thought translated into clothing — clear, alert, abstract and full of motion.

PLUSMINUS is a GERMENS long sleeve button-up shirt for men, made from 100% cotton and designed as a wearable artwork. The motif was created by Gregor-T. Kozik, a painter and graphic artist from Chemnitz, founding member of the artist group Clara Mosch and co-founder of GERMENS artfashion. His work combines traditional and experimental techniques, a quality that is visible in the shirt’s abstract, energetic composition.

The visual effect of PLUSMINUS is bright and open. A predominantly white base gives the artwork room to breathe, while black, almost calligraphic lines move across the front, sleeves and back. Red, pink, yellow, blue and green appear as sharp color impulses within the composition. The shirt is vivid, but not arbitrary; its rhythm is controlled, graphic and deliberately placed. It works with denim, dark trousers, chinos, minimalist shoes or a plain jacket. Worn casually, it brings artistic clarity into everyday style; worn at galleries, concerts, dinners or private events, it becomes a confident conversation piece.

Individually placed artwork, not a generic allover print

The essential difference lies in the GERMENS production principle. PLUSMINUS is not simple repeat fabric, not a random allover print and not a motif that is merely enlarged or reduced from one size to another. For each size, individual print data is prepared. Lines, color fields and visual focal points are adapted to the proportions of the garment. The cotton fabric is produced in Saxony, printed separately for each size and then cut by hand with considerable precision.

The shirt is made from 21 individual parts, and the artwork is accurately integrated into these parts. This is why PLUSMINUS looks coherent in XS as well as in 6XL. The motif does not lose balance in larger sizes and does not fall randomly across seams. Instead, the garment appears as one complete visual object. What might otherwise be a patterned shirt becomes a true piece of wearable art, created through a globally distinctive GERMENS concept in which art, tailoring and textile craft are developed together.

Precise workmanship and everyday use

New customers who want to check size and fit first can use the home try-on service early in the buying process. The service is free; only a small deposit is charged, which is later refunded or credited. This makes it easier to find the right size from XS to 6XL before placing the final order.

The craftsmanship supports the design with refined structure: very close stitches along the edges, sturdy buttons sewn on with a shank, angled cuffs, a Kent collar with stainless steel collar stays and the characteristic GERMENS collar notch. These details give PLUSMINUS form, stability and a well-kept silhouette without making the shirt feel stiff. After purchase, the alteration service can help with shortened sleeves, waist adjustments, back darts or a shorter hem. Since GERMENS produces according to demand, unnecessary overproduction is avoided.

For lasting color and shape, wash PLUSMINUS at 30°C with color detergent without bleach. A small amount of fabric softener is possible, but tumble drying should be avoided. GERMENS only uses its own designs, which are only available here. For each garment – in every size from XS to 6XL – the pattern pieces are printed individually and accurately on high-quality cotton fabric.

The fabric is then finished so that the colors remain permanently brilliant, the fabric is washable, suitable for everyday use and comfortable to wear – without any unpleasant odors.

GERMENS only produces what has actually been ordered. This is very sustainable and ensures lasting value. After printing, the fabrics are cut – traditionally by hand. The skilled worker is visually guided by the design and cuts each piece individually. The result is a perfect fit in which art and cut interact perfectly.

After cutting, the many individual pieces are sewn together in a Polish family business with great care and many years of experience.
