Major adjustment for extraordinary shirts and blouses

The sleeve shortening by 11 cm is a major alteration for shirts and blouses whose sleeves are considerably too long. It is suitable when chest width, shoulder area and overall fit are correct, but the cuffs fall far too much over the hand.

Especially with extraordinary men’s shirts, art shirts, creative men’s shirts or colourful button-up shirts, shortening the sleeves can be more useful than changing to another size. This keeps the suitable body width while adjusting the sleeve length individually.

Please check carefully

A shortening by 11 cm should only be selected when the sleeves are truly much too long. Check the length in front of a mirror with your arms hanging naturally down. The cuff should reach approximately to the middle of the back of the hand.

If in doubt, a sleeve may be slightly too long rather than too short. Sleeves that are too short can quickly look tight and may feel uncomfortable when you move.

Cuff professionally reattached

For this alteration, the cuff is carefully removed. We then remove 11 cm of fabric from the sleeve and sew the cuff back on precisely. The finish remains clean, stable and visually discreet. After the alteration, the shirt or blouse should not look as if it has been changed later.

As an alternative, the cuff can be folded back once on some shirts. This reduces the visible sleeve length and brings the often attractive inside of the cuff into view.
