SK8B - Black and white artist men´s shirt - GERMENS
This extraordinary shirt in black and white comes from the Leipzig artist Wilhelm Frederking. The surface structures result from impressions of used skateboards.Wilhelm Frederking: I printed ten different skateboards that I got from different skaters. When choosing the skateboards, it was important to me to use the skateboards that showed signs of wear. I rolled the skateboards with a paint roller and then printed them off by hand. The impression with the hand was very positive, because the boards are slightly bent and thus should not be printed in a printing press. The result is graphics that make the driving structure of the old owner visible.
Based on these graphics, experienced skaters were able to tell me which technique the skateboard rider was using. It can therefore be seen whether the driver was more likely to drive on the road or in a ramp and what tricks he has made especially often The skateboard represents a youth culture.
The graphics represent art for which mostly young people of this culture are not interested. With the print series, I have been able to build a bridge from youth culture to graphic interest.
