Stronger shortening for a clearly too long garment

The 8 cm hem shortening is a stronger alteration for Long sleeve Button-up shirts, blouses and T-shirts. It is suitable when the garment is clearly too long and the body proportions look less balanced as a result.

With this adjustment, the hem is shortened evenly at the front and back. The existing hem is cut off and then sewn again. The alteration affects the entire lower edge of the garment.

When upper body and legs should look more balanced

A Long sleeve Button-up shirt, blouse or T-shirt that is too long can make the upper body look too long and the legs appear too short. An 8 cm shortening can be especially useful for people with a shorter body height.

For shirts, the height of the middle of the back pocket of a pair of trousers is a helpful reference point. However, the overall impression is always important: the new length should match the body height, the trousers and the intended wearing style.

Check from a distance before ordering

An 8 cm shortening noticeably changes the look of the garment. For this reason, the Long sleeve Button-up shirt, blouse or T-shirt should be pinned evenly all around and viewed from a little distance. This is the best way to judge whether the new length is really balanced.
