Design story: riding the line between calm and motion

WELLENREITER carries the tension of a single moving moment. Against a deep black ground, a bright wave-like form rises across the front: part sea foam, part gesture, part figure in motion. The design does not explain itself too quickly. It can be read as a surfer, a breaking wave, a flash of white energy or a graphic trace left by movement. That openness gives the shirt its conversational strength. When someone asks about it, the wearer can say that WELLENREITER is about balance: the second in which you stop resisting the wave and start moving with it.

The Button-up Shirt Long Sleeve WELLENREITER is a distinctive Long sleeve shirt for men who like black, but do not want to disappear into it. The dark base gives the shirt clarity and restraint, while the white and grey motif adds speed, contrast and visual tension. From a distance, it appears elegant and reduced; up close, it becomes more expressive, almost like a drawing placed directly onto the body.

The design was created by Gregor-T. Kozik. The Chemnitz-based German painter and graphic artist is described by GERMENS as a founding member of the Clara Mosch artist group and as a co-founder of GERMENS artfashion. His work is associated with a strong visual language that combines traditional and experimental techniques. In WELLENREITER, that artistic background becomes visible through reduction: black, white and soft grey are enough to create depth, rhythm and a sense of momentum.

Not an ordinary patterned shirt

GERMENS does not produce simple repeat patterns or generic allover prints. WELLENREITER is not a motif that has merely been enlarged or reduced to fit different sizes. For each size from XS to 6XL, the print data is individually adjusted. The artwork is placed according to the proportions of the specific shirt size and distributed across 21 separate pattern pieces. Only then is the cotton fabric printed, carefully cut by hand and precisely assembled. The result is a Button-up shirt long sleeve men that looks coherent in every size, not randomly patterned.

This approach is central to the GERMENS concept. The image is not treated as decoration but as part of the construction. The front, sleeves, collar and individual components are brought together so that the shirt appears as one complete visual composition. The Button-up Shirt Long Sleeve WELLENREITER is made from 100% cotton. The cotton fabric is produced in Saxony and offers a natural, skin-friendly feel. It is breathable, comfortable, odor-neutral, durable and suitable for everyday wear. The shirt is pleasant enough for long days, yet refined enough for occasions that require a clear sense of style. The Kent collar is stabilized with stainless steel collar stays; the GERMENS collar notch, angled cuffs, sturdy buttons sewn with a stem and very tight edge stitching underline the precise workmanship.

For new customers, the home try-on service removes much of the uncertainty around sizing. Three sizes can be tested at home; the service is free, with only a small deposit that is refunded or credited later. After purchase, the alteration service can help with sleeve shortening, waist adjustment, back darts or hem changes. This makes it easier to choose an expressive shirt without compromising on fit.

Easy care, lasting presence

For care, wash the shirt at 30 degrees with color detergent and no bleach. A small amount of fabric softener may be used, but tumble drying is not recommended. The shirt can be ironed hot or smoothed on a shirt finisher. Further details are available in the care instructions. GERMENS only uses its own designs, which are only available here. For each garment – in every size from XS to 6XL – the pattern pieces are printed individually and accurately on high-quality cotton fabric.

The fabric is then finished so that the colors remain permanently brilliant, the fabric is washable, suitable for everyday use and comfortable to wear – without any unpleasant odors.

GERMENS only produces what has actually been ordered. This is very sustainable and ensures lasting value. After printing, the fabrics are cut – traditionally by hand. The skilled worker is visually guided by the design and cuts each piece individually. The result is a perfect fit in which art and cut interact perfectly.

Careful tailoring in the manufactory

After cutting, the many individual pieces are sewn together in a Polish family business with great care and many years of experience. High-quality finishing details – such as finely stitched edges or buttons with handles – and fine fabrics guarantee that every GERMENS garment will give you long-lasting pleasure.
