The 2 cm waist expansion per side is a light but noticeable alteration for Long sleeve Button-up shirts, blouses and T-shirts. It is especially suitable when the garment fits well at the top, but needs a little more room around the stomach or hem.

With this option, a 2 cm wide fabric strip is inserted on each side. This increases the total circumference in the lower area by approximately 4 cm. This can be very helpful for men with a fuller stomach, for more corpulent body shapes or for women and men who need more width around the middle of the body.

Matching fabric strip in the product design

The side seam is opened by hand. A narrow fabric strip is then inserted on the right and left, from the hem up towards the underarm area. The strip matches the design of the selected product. This keeps the look of the Long sleeve Button-up shirt, blouse or T-shirt harmonious.

The alteration mainly adds width at the waist, stomach and hem. The chest area is expanded only slightly. If the garment is already too tight around the chest, choosing a larger size is usually better than ordering a waist expansion.

Recommendation: check with the try-on service first

The right expansion can be assessed best with the home try-on service. If shoulders, chest and length fit well, but the lower part is too tight, a waist expansion can be a useful solution.

For cotton products, normal shrinkage should be considered. Cotton may change slightly during washing. With GERMENS, this shrinkage is around 2 to 3 %. For this reason, the alteration can also be carried out later after the first washes.
