Light waist shaping for slim men and women

The 2 cm waist reduction is a light but clearly noticeable alteration for Long sleeve Button-up shirts and blouses. It is suitable when a men’s button-up shirt, a cotton Long sleeve Button-up shirt or a blouse fits well at the shoulders and chest, but falls slightly too wide at the waist and hem.

This alteration is especially useful for slim body shapes or athletic figures with slightly broader shoulders. The shoulders need enough room, while the waist may sit closer to the body. The result is a neater silhouette without making the chest area significantly tighter.

What changes with a 2 cm reduction?

The side seams are opened manually. A narrow amount of fabric is then removed from both sides. The new side line runs from the hem upwards towards the underarm. This mainly reduces the waist width and hem width, while chest, collar, sleeves and shoulders remain unchanged.

A 2 cm reduction is useful when the garment looks only slightly too straight. The Long sleeve Button-up shirt or blouse should sit closer to the body afterwards, but should not feel tight. Sitting, walking and arm movement should still be comfortable.

Recommendation: pin the fitting garment first

The desired waist reduction can be tested especially well with the home try-on service. Once the basic size is correct, the side width can be pinned on the fitting shirt or fitting blouse. This makes it easier to see whether 2 cm are enough or whether a stronger reduction would be more suitable.

Because GERMENS Long sleeve Button-up shirts and blouses are made from cotton, normal shrinkage during washing should be considered. Cotton may change slightly after the first washes. A shrinkage of around 2 to 3 % is normal and not a quality defect. If you want a very precise fit, the alteration can also be ordered later after the first washes.
