Maximum sleeve shortening for very long sleeves

The sleeve shortening by 12 cm is the strongest version of this alteration. It is suitable when the sleeves of a long sleeve shirt, men’s shirt or blouse are very clearly too long, while the garment fits well around the body.

At GERMENS, a premium men’s shirt, a special long sleeve shirt or a blouse can therefore be adjusted individually to your personal arm length. This is especially useful when another size would fit worse around the upper body.

Who is 12 cm shortening suitable for?

This shortening should only be selected when the sleeves are considerably too long. It is not a small correction, but a strong change to the sleeve length. Please check carefully whether 12 cm are really necessary. When the arm hangs naturally down, the cuff should reach approximately to the middle of the back of the hand.

If in doubt, a sleeve may be slightly too long rather than too short. Sleeves that are too short can quickly look tight and may feel uncomfortable when you move.

Time-consuming alteration on the finished shirt or blouse

For this alteration, the cuffs are carefully removed. We then shorten the sleeves by 12 cm and sew the cuffs back on professionally. The aim is a clean, discreet alteration that is not recognisable as a later adjustment.

With some GERMENS shirts, folding the cuff back can also be tested before shortening. If the inside of the cuff differs in colour or pattern, this creates an elegant effect similar to a double cuff.
