The sleeve shortening by 6 cm is a stronger alteration for shirts and blouses whose sleeves are clearly too long. With colourful men’s shirts, patterned shirts, art shirts and long sleeve blouses, precise workmanship is especially important so that the proportions remain high-quality.

Which fit is 6 cm suitable for?

A shortening by 6 cm is suitable when the cuffs sit clearly too low with the arms hanging naturally and extend far beyond the ideal position. The cuff tip should reach approximately to the middle of the back of the hand without falling too far over the hand.

If in doubt, a sleeve may be slightly too long rather than too short. Sleeves that are too short can quickly look tight and may feel uncomfortable when you move.

Professional shortening directly on the finished shirt

The cuffs are carefully removed. We then shorten both sleeves by 6 cm and sew the cuffs back on precisely. This work is time-consuming and takes around 45 minutes per shirt. After completion, the alteration should not be visible.
